- דִּיסְקַרְתָּא, דְּאִיסְקַרְתָּא, דִּסְ׳c. (Dispael of קַרְתָּא, v. דְּ־) part of a town, settlement, private town (עיר של יהיד). Erub.59a ‘a private town which became public ground כגון דאיס׳וכ׳ ed. (Ms. M. דיס׳) e. g. the diskarta of the Resh Galutha. Ib. דיס׳ דנשואר Ms. M. (ed. דנתזואי). Gitt.40a דס׳ דעבדי a settlement of slaves. Meg.16a סגי ליה בחדא ד׳ Ms. M. (ed. בחד) he is sufficiently rewarded with a township (as a royal grant, v. דִּיסְתָּקָא).Sot.6b רב יהודה מד׳ Rab Judah of Diskarta. (Fl. to Levy Targ. Dict. II, 577a> identifies our w. with Pers. dastcharah, dascharah.
